Why Vote Yes?

A Vote For Oakwood School Is a Vote for Continued Excellence and Opportunity

Why Your Vote Matters
YES vote on May 6, 2025 will:

  • Ensure safe, warm, and dry learning environments by updating aging infrastructure.
  • Upgrade classrooms to meet modern technology and energy needs so students and teachers have the tools they need to succeed.
  • Improve safety and accessibility by upgrading fire suppression systems, replacing outdated stair lifts and enhancing security in academic and athletic spaces.
  • Preserve the historic character of our schools while making essential improvements that will serve our students and community for decades to come.

Oakwood Schools is second to none. From our nationally recognized academics and arts programs to our well-rounded extracurricular offerings, our schools provide students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to chart a promising course for the future. As a result, our schools are a source of pride that keeps our community in high demand.

Our district directs a greater percentage of dollars to the classroom than most other districts in the state.

Nearly 71 cents of every dollar is directed to classroom instruction. That puts our district at 11 out of 261 similarly sized districts in making sure our dollars go where they count: the classroom.

Our students have the benefits of a small district with the advantages available to students in much larger communities.

  • Oakwood students have access to enriching programs and extracurriculars at every level that are well beyond state minimums.
  • Oakwood High School students have access to 13 College Credit Plus courses, 17 Advanced Placement courses, 25 career tech programs, 33 clubs, 24 varsity sports, and band/choir/drama groups.
  • Oakwood Schools is a “destination district” for highly qualified teachers. Eighty percent of our teachers have 10+ years of experience, and 79% of our teachers have master’s degrees—indicating they put in the time and work to excel in their field.
  • Our district is one of the only in the region that does not require pay to participate fees. That means Oakwood families aren’t required to pay a fee above and beyond any nominal club, team, or activity fees to participate in extracurricular activities.

Our students graduate ready for what comes next. For the Class of 2023:

  • 85% planned to attend a four-year school
  • 8% planned to attend a two-year or technical school
  • 7% planned to pursue other options, including military service

All of this requires adequate funding the state of Ohio simply doesn't provide. The ability of our schools to continue offering rich academic and extracurricular experiences hinges on local support. We need to pass this levy to ensure our children can continue to benefit from a signature Oakwood Schools experiencenow and for the future.

Oakwood Schools are the heart of our community.

Oakwood is one of the most desired communities in the region for young professionals and families.

  • Our schools are a draw for families, protecting our home values and fueling the sense of community and energy that characterize our neighborhoods.
  • Because Oakwood is in high demand for families, our housing market is resilient against economic downturns.

A vote for Oakwood Schools is needed to keep funding the programs, services, and experiences that make our community one of the top in the state.

Financial Facts
